The Howard Warner Project - 06/08/2018

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "It's a happy talent to know how to play."

The City of Newnan, the Coweta Community foundation, and the Newnan Kiwanis Club have helped kids with a better area to play.

A playground has been constructed in the Chalk Level community of Newnan. The city of Newnan owned the land, so the city was able to prepare the land for construction.  And, for the playground equipment itself, several organizations played a role in funding the needs.

Anne Josey with the Coweta Community Foundation led the effort to raise the money. The Kaboom organization donated a $15,000, and $35,000 was raised by other donations.

John Herbert Cranford, Jr. - 06/05/2018

The Newnan Kiwanis Club was honored to have Newnan’s own John Herbert Cranford, Jr. as our June 5: Kiwanis Guest Speaker.

As a lifetime citizen of Coweta County, Cranford served as the Assistant District Attorney. Then, on January 23, 2018, Gov. Nathan Deal announced the appointment of John Herbert Cranford Jr. as district attorney of the Coweta Judicial Circuit.

During his speech at the Kiwanis luncheon, Cranford discussed what it meant to him to be in prosecution. He stated, “Sometimes, incarceration is needed, and we pursue it. On the other hand, a good prosecutor may see a need where a second chance is needed
as long as the just punishment is served properly.”

Kenny Harriot - Racer, Athlete, Inspiration - 05/22/2018

Kenny Harriot is a world-class athlete and motivational speaker. As a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, Kenny grew up as a fitness expert.

As an adult, Kenny participated in such activities as:

  • Martial arts
  • Boxing
  • Football (soccer)
  • Triathlons

Kenny was a member of the Military Parachute regiment.

As an active adult, Kenny loved adventure and excitement. One day, while riding a 1300 cc bike that would run upwards of 200mph, he turned the bike over while passing through a small city. Ironically, out of all of Kenny’s adventures, he turned the bike over while traveling
at only 15mph. The wreck changed his entire life, as on July 26, 2000 at 38 years old, Kenny severed his spine.
